I keep forgetting to write about the cool shoe tree. It is this huge tree in Nevada, outside of Middlegate on the way to Austin. It is this huge tree, like an Oak but with different leaves, and HUNDREDS of shoes hanging from it. I took a bunch of pictures which I will try to put on a website for anyone who is interested. When you are on your bike for 8-12 hrs. a day you have a lot of time to hone your fantasies. So I've spent a lot of time on my motorcycle fantasy. I think it will be Wyoming, Montana...places like that. Utah just seems so huge, so beautiful, so wide open and big skied....so I want to see the places that people refer to when they talk about big sky, wide open, etc. I've been chatting up all the bikers we run into. They are such a friendly lot. We actually ran into this biker guy and his wife, he had about 120 tatoos and a ponytail down to his waist. He was an addict and a convict and then suddenly, 17yrs. ago he gave his life to the Lord and now he runs a "prison ministry". It is a long story and Matt will do it better justice, but the long and short of it is that he asked if he could pray for us. We thought "sure, what the hell, the way these days are going, the more prayers the better". So we we all held hands in a circle in the parking lot of the National Park, him, his wife, and us four, and he said this whole prayer, the best of which was the part about "and please Lord, don't let his (Matt's) feet pedal faster than the angels can fly".
I also have this new fantasy about biking from Paris to Amsterdam. Leo planted that little seed but it is germinating mightily on this trip. My other fantasies are the Spain for a year with Matt and the boys one which most of you already know about, and the Villa in Italy for a year with Chicky, Julie, and Goph....Hey, are you guys still saving up for that?
The boys have totally gotten into the camp life routine. We check our tires daily (I have already had to replace my back tire because it was all worn through in patches) we clean out the waterbottles with this bottle brush (especially the ones that have the CytoMax in it...which Matt is now calling Cytotek..which is a type of synthentic prostoglandin that we use in OB..which he is familiar with only because every time I use it on someone they inevitably go into labor at 2am), we wash our socks, shirts, and bike shorts out, etc. They (well, Yonah at least) have gotten very good at stuffing sleeping bags, pitching tents, and washing dishes.

Hey Djina,
I don't know if you'll see this, but anyway, here goes:
I kind of stopped reading your blog for a while b/c there were no new postings. Today, I give it a little look-see and it's like a whole f-ing book! What gives? When do you have time to write all of a sudden?
On Thursday night, we were driving up to Laytonville to the Kate Wolf Festival (which was so much better than last year) and it's around 11 at night, and Elsa says, "oh yeah, Djina called" I couldn't believe I missed your call and knew I wouldn't be able to call you right back.
Back to your blog...I know we're saving up for a trip to Italy (the villa thing, like in Enchanted April, but without the affairs...maybe). Anyhooo, we were going for a month or something like that, not a year. Who can take a year off? I'm not a Rockefeller!
Gotta sign off, my Carpal Tunnel is kicking in, but that's a whole other story.
I love reading about all the fun stuff you guys are doing, but, surprisingly, I'm not one bit jealous!
Love you more than words can say,
Chicky
