the last one was really Thursday June 28th, opps. It is sometimes hard to keep track. We always have a "very special Shabbat" though, so that keeps us somewhat aware of the days. After all that complaining, we had such a pleasant ride today. I got to sleep in, do Yoga, have breakfast, go buy groceries at a real grocery store instead of a "C-store", which I have come to learn means a convenience store...and usually doubles as a gas station, bowling alley, video store, and nail salon. With the larders restocked we headed out to Montecello. It was a gentle ride and the wind was on our backs. It was also only 22 miles away so we got there in time to set up camp, take showers, buy a challah for shabbat (the best I could to was a glazed donut twist...only 33 cents), and go to the library to look up some stuff for Solomon who is now fasinated with books on "Animals of the West". Matt took the boys minature golfing for an hour. Then we got them shakes and fries...(at, yes, much to my chagrin, The Shake Shack)and headed back to our campsite and made a killer dinner, lit Shabbat candles, and had a "very special Shabbat".
We are feeling rested and ready for Colorado and the Rockies!!!!

Hi Matt, Djina, Jonah, Solly. This is Mike Ransom, from Village Homes. I feel a bit guilty for not really following your trip until recently--I actually was quite intrigued with it. I've just been very busy.
You guys are doing the most amazing thing. I have a theory about life which is basically that you really only remember the big stuff. This is the big stuff, the stuff you will always remember. People who have the guts to take something like this on are the ones who have the fullest, most interesting lives. Great for you, and especially the boys.
I spent 3.5 months bike touring in New Zealand. I stayed at peoples' houses, in campgrounds, hostels, trekking cabins and under bridges and stars. Rather than heat, my weather challenges were more often rain, snow and ice, and freezing temperatures. How 'bout that? Bet you'd like to trade for that for a few days!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They get the rest of us thinking as well. I really think it's great how doing this as a family is giving you so many insights into each other's thoughts and personalities.
