Our trip has been redeemed by today’s ride from Cedar City to Panguitch. We got an early start to beat the heat. It was so beautiful, lots of flowers, water, trees, huge wide-open spaces. We climbed our highest summit to date, 10,000 ft. It helped that Ken sagged our stuff to Panguitch and then rode up the mountain and met us on the top. We had lunch at this gorgeous lake, Solomon and I went swimming, and then we all went screaming down the mountain into Panguitch. We are now on map #3. We got to Panguitch just in time to get one of the last spots in the KOA. There is a big Harley Davidson Jamboree going on so everything is full and there are bikers everywhere. There is also a hot air balloon parade and “glow” (they light them up and line the streets with them).
We will say goodbye to Ken again and not see him until we get back. It has been so nice having him. In Bryce Canyon we went on a 3 mile hike and he and Solomon entertained each other the whole way. It is like having Mary Poppins with us…a Mary Poppins who drinks beer.
Tomorrow we ride to Escalante. We have loved reading your comments.
The boys are doing well. Matt had a great ride today too, despite his chain breaking halfway up the mountain. He was very Zen though…he swore once and then calmed himself and said “it’s ok, it’s ok…I can fix this….stay calm….”. And he did, and the rest of the day was uneventful.

I should preview my comments..so
many spelling errors. I am by the way anonymous because its easier than trying to have google remember my name..which they forget..or maybe I do. Having said all that, I am posting again. I see it as my job to be sure you know I am tracking every post with enthusiasm and interest. I haven't heard much about Yonah lately. We need a journal entry dear Yonah. Tell us how many signatures you have been able to amass along this portion of your journey. which is an interesting one as it is not as populated and you seem to be running into alot
of bikers..a completely libertarian group.
The weather on the East Coast right now is glorious..I hope it continues so you can slide in here with a breeze, but thats some time from now..there is still so much
country and so many adventures..stay safe and love,
Ant-y Vette
I LOVE getting your messages! I will try to get Yonah to write. He is religious about writing in his journal every night. I will need a whole blog to write about the bikers. Let me just say that I am already planning a motorcycle trip somewhere (not sure yet where). I just want to sit on the back though, and listen to my ipod, so I need to find a driver. Matt says he isn't interested. Maybe YOU Anty Vette?!
I love you.
Djina
There was a time, dear Djina I actualy contemplated a cross country on the back of a Norton
with a new friend in the heady
days of the 60s when all things
were possible..I backed out at
the last minute..But not too sorry.
I think my days for a motorcycle
adventure..even with you, might
be more than my poor back and kidneys could handle..maybe when I am older..Keep on truckin' Love from your dear old Ant-y
Wow, just wow. your attitude towards the challenges are inspiring. Keep up the posts: descriptions of the landscape and foods and locals.
