We had a fantastic day of riding yesterday. We went from Chanute to Pittsburg, Kansas. It was all rolling hills and lots of trees, birds..etc. It was hot and muggy but there was a thick cloud cover that prevented the triple digits, and happily never came through on the predicted T-storms. We stayed in another skanky hotel that we were again lucky to get. There being a Farm Show going on, all the hotels were booked and the prices soared to California levels. We tried out the whistles and they worked like a charm. We had the pepper spray at the ready but never needed to use it. As we saw the dogs come charging and barking the boys just let loose on the whistles and the dogs halted abrubtly in their tracks. It was beautiful to watch and made me a lot less nervous about Missouri-The You Show Me Yours, I'll Show You Mine state.
We also rescued our third turtle! It was a simple rescue operation involving me turning my bike

Tonight you are missing a Davis event. The city allowed 2nd street to be closed in front of the Avid Reader. They put up the portable big (really big) screen and showed a couple of the HP movies while everyone waited.
Avid Reader is said to have over 500 copies and only 400 pre-ordered and paid for. In about 45 minutes the distribution will begin.
I hope that you found some wonderful place to buy your book
