"It's fun being on the back of a tandem with my Dad, but it gets boring at times. Sometimes on the flat parts of the ground there is nothing to do but look at the scenery, and looking at the scenery is a little boring unless I can see something really cool, like Cardinals."
"Sometimes it's sad because of all the dead animals. Like I saw a dead deer, butterflies, a racoon.... But it's kind of cool when you get to see live animals, like birds and deer. We got to run with some deer and cows. I'm glad we're getting a rest day today, tomorrow we're going into the Appalacians, our last series of hills. I think there're going to be really hard. Apparently they have some really tough grades, like 18%. I'll be glad when they're over. Bye. .....can I go back to the room and watch tv now?...should I tell Yonah to come in now?"

Solomon, Daniel misses you a lot and talks about you all the time. You would have enjoyed our trip because we spent most of the time talking about Harry Potter, since we had all finally finished it.
Also, we found a great chat site that had a transcript of J.K. Rowling answering questions from fans that were left unanswered in the books. There were 120,000 questions submitted! She answered a lot that I had, it was very satisfying. When you are done with the book it might be fun for you to look at it. It's full of spoilers, so don't look yet:

Djina, that air conditioning madness has always driven me insane. When we lived in New Orleans, where the seasons are Spring, Summer, Simmer, and Boil, I constantly caught colds in the summer because it would be 98 degrees and 98 percent humididty out and you would go into a store all sweaty and it would be 55 degrees in there! So cold that if it was winter you would put the heat on! So then you'd feel all cold and wet and clammy, and go back out and it would be as hot as a crotch, like getting hit with a big sweaty sock in the face. The contrast would make me dizzy.
See, creative kvetching is the spice of life. Absolutely keep on with it. I agree with Juana.
Love,
Ruth
Ahhh Ruth, I love you. "Hot as a crotch"! I can always count on you. I am in a town right now that you would LOVE. A real mountain college, artist colony. Berea, KY. Saw some fantastic quilts.
Thought of you.

p.s. I'll pass on your message to Solomon..he is almost done with H.P. I'm still on chapter 9.
Solomon, thanks for the glimpse into your experience, its fun to imagine you sitting behind your dad and umm...doing what you are doing :)
