But for the kindness of strangers.....

we surely would have perished. Today we rode 84 miles through the Nevada desert from Baker to Milford. We started as early as we could to beat the heat but since it was a 12 hour day of riding, we still ended up getting plenty of sun. We left behind Nevada early on in the day and entered Utah. I had hoped that we had seen the last of "Antler Art" which seems to be everywhere except the Lectrolux Cafe. I was going to take a picture of some of the more grotesque examples but it was all just so depressing. There was this one ranch that had a whole entry gate, archway type thing that was made almost completely of antlers. It sort of reminded me of the "Shoe Room" at the Holocaust museum in DC. I thought we might also be leaving behind the tradition of decorated the walls with dollar bills...not just the walls but the ceilings too. But not only did we not leave behind either of those things, we didn't leave behind Sage Brush, desert, heat, or dust. We had all those things with the addition of 25mph head winds that slowed our labored progress down to 7mph on the flats and about 3mph on the hills, and.....yikes, more later...gotta go...Ken scored me a pedicure...right now!!!!
